The Igbo Cultural Association of Edmonton (ICAE) held their cultural day at the Canadian Druze Centre in Edmonton on 22nd of July 2018. This was to celebrate their people, traditions and achievements.  The Igbo Cultural Association of Edmonton was founded in 2002 by a group of Igbo people.

The vision of the association is “to promote all aspects of the Igbo culture that would positively impact and contribute to the progress, development and welfare of its members. It also strives to create awareness of its culture to the City of Edmonton and its surrounding communities thereby reinforcing the multicultural diversity mosaic of the community we live in”.

According to their website, "The Igbo Day is a day set aside by ICAE to provide our members with the opportunity to reflect on what it means to be of Igbo Ancestry. It is a day many Igbos remember their heritage, their past history and experiences; a day of solidarity and love, and a day to give praise and thanks to Chukwu, the Almighty God for all His blessings on our people."

The Igbo Day is held once every two years and it has become an excellent opportunity to showcase the rich Igbo cultural heritage passed on to us from our forefathers through traditional dance, attire, food and culture.

The event brought the people of Igbo descent in Canada and across Edmonton together through music, dance, food, fashion and storytelling.
